Who I am…

I am a seamstress, tailor, and vintage clothing maker in RVA

“Tailored clothing – fit to your body – makes such a huge, positive difference”

My journey as a seamstress began when I was nine years old, spending hours watching my two grandmothers work with fabric and thread. Seeing how each of them could turn simple materials into something both beautiful and useful sparked a curiosity that never left. That early exposure grew into a lasting passion for creating, repairing, and tailoring garments with precision and care. I’ve been sewing for 40 years and have proudly run my alterations business for the past 28, helping clients feel confident in clothing that truly fits.

Early Life

Early Life: I didn’t choose the sewing life; it chose me. My grandmothers, with their infinite patience and skillful hands, were my first teachers, passing down the art of sewing, and I am so grateful.

Career Journey

Career Journey: Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working on a wide range of projects—from custom wedding gowns and religious garments (including christening and first communion pieces) to home décor like curtains, pillows, and table linens. I also restore well-loved furniture through upholstery updates and handle everyday wardrobe needs, including repairs, mending (both visible and discreet), and precise alterations to ensure every garment fits comfortably and confidently.

Philosophy

For me, sewing is about more than constructing garments—it’s about bringing ideas to life. I draw inspiration from everyday details, whether it’s the colors in nature or the rhythm of city life, and I approach each project with intention and care. Every piece I create reflects my commitment to the craft and the unique story behind each client’s vision.
